Thanks

... to everyone who came to my booth at last weekend's Talmadge Art Show and said such positive things about my work... to you special people who bought a vessel (or six!), including most of my personal favorites (I'll miss them, but I know they're in good and loving hands)... to Sharon Gorevitz and Alan Greenberg, who organize the Talmadge shows so beautifully and help and encourage artists in San Diego in many ways... to my dear friend Carol, who devoted her Sunday to manning my booth with me, shared her insights on how to make it even better, and, most important , kept me more or less on track all day long... to my sweet husband, who served as my designated chauffeur, schlepper, tea fetcher, and more... and to the universe for allowing me the time, space, and skills to play with color all day and send the results out into the world.

As a newcomer to selling at shows like Talmadge, I have been surprised and thrilled at how much I learn on each sale day: about myself; about all of you craft shoppers; about how to improve my work, to present it better, and to answer more of your questions in my display before you have a chance to ask them.  I didn't think I would enjoy these events, but I really do.

I'm taking a brief pause from the studio to recuperate physically, take stock of what I want to make next, and decide when I aim to do my next show event.  Ideas are flowing, and I look forward to getting back to work soon.

New pages added - and a show reminder

You'll find two brand new tabs at the top of this page.  I've created a page about how and why I make felted vessels.  And I've begun a series of gallery pages showcasing my current work.

It's a work in progress, so please check back regularly for more photos and information.

And San Diegans, remember to attend the Talmadge Art Show next Sunday, November 21, 2010, 10 AM to 4 PM, at The San Diego Women's Club (corner of Third Ave. and Maple St., just west of Balboa Park.)  I'll be there with my felted vessels and would love to meet you -- as would the other 75 or so artists who will be offering their work there too.

New felt vessels

I've been making a lot of new vessels in preparation for the Talmadge show on the 21st.  It's been great fun to play with the colors and watch the work evolve.  Here are five of the pieces I completed in October.

Alpenglow  10"H

Alpenglow is inspired by a friend's photo taken at sunset in the high Sierras in central California.

Into the Woods  10"H

Into the Woods comes from my own imagination and is really a happy accident based on the wool having a mind of its own.

Red Rock Series:
#2, #3 Lichens, #4 Dusk
All 5"H

The Red Rock series comes from my endless fascination with the landscape of the desert southwest:  southern Utah, northern Arizona, and the Four Corners area.  There will be more in this series, I'm sure.
